Constancy and Change

We have been very hesitant about applying any other than gross statistical measures to these data because we are not dealing with discrete career channels (an individual can have more than one), and because of the size of each group. However, in order to assess constancy of career channels in recruiting members into the elite, it is relevant to apply a coefficient of variability (standard deviation divided by mean) to these data across the four time periods as a measure of constancy. Table 8.18 presents these data.
